TO ALL RECRUITS OF KOF
KOF is a solid tight knit clan of great friendships and skilled shooters. We started out as a Star Wars Battlefront clan for the PS2...but have since moved into the games of Socom: Combined Assault and Confrontation, Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, Battlefield Bad Company One and Two, Resistance: Fall of Man 1 and 2, COD 4, 5, and MW2, Vegas 1 and 2, and Killzone 2 on the PS3. We have also been on several Xbox360 and PC titles together. Currently we are accepting members on the PS3 ONLY.

We at KOF respect other clans and will show respect until we are not shown the same.

First off, let me say that cheaters, glitchers, team killers, and drama starters are NOT welcome here and will NOT be tolerated. If you are caught doing any of the above, you will have your membership from the clan revoked.

With that said: What we are looking for are recruits that not only have good skills on the game, but those who also utilize teamwork and communication in their gameplay. As a possible recruit, you will be responsible for playing with us so we can get a chance to evaluate your gameplay to see if you are KOF material. You will also be responsible for posting regularly on the forums so we can get to know you better.

Here at KOF, we have a team philosophy of...”United we stand, divided we fall” and we do our best to ensure that we follow through with that philosophy. Our members usually play daily and we try to play together in parties or in the same room so we can quickly dismiss anyone who is making the online gaming experience bad by glitching or team killing. We strive to make our rooms a fun and competitive environment for all to enjoy.

So, if you are interested in joining the KOF dynasty...please fill out the Member Application in the Menu section at the left. After we review the application, one of our council members will send you a PM and tell you what to do next. If you qualify for the clan, a buddy invite will be sent out on the game. Thank you for your interest in Knights of the Front and Good Luck!

Hulu: Playstation Plus service is only a requirement during the preview period

News
Hulu has finally clarified earlier rumors regarding the use of their upcoming service on the PlayStation Plus, saying that "the Playstation Plus service is only a requirement during the preview period". According to the company:

"With the launch of Hulu Plus there have been many rumors started and we are trying our best to remedy the situation. Specifically to your question, the Playstation Plus service is only a requirement during the preview period."

"Once the preview period ends you should be able to download the Hulu Plus app but that will still require the Hulu Plus subscription. Right now we are limiting the number of users but Hulu Plus will be launching to the public very soon so stay tuned!"

Earlier last week, Hulu's own webpage said "you must be a subscriber of the Playstation Plus Network" in order to access the upcoming US$ 9.99 subscription-based Hulu Plus service.

Eye of Judgment Servers Shutting Down

Game News
Sony to turn off online servers this fall.

Sony has confirmed it will turn off the online servers for The Eye of Judgment, the card-based strategy title for PlayStation 3, this coming September.

"We regret to announce that the online servers for Eye of Judgment for PS3 will be closing as of September 30," a Sony spokesperson told IGN. "This means that online gameplay will come to an end on that date."

"Fortunately, players can still enjoy the offline campaigns for Eye of Judgment and its expansion packs if the game data is stored on their PS3 system," the spokesperson added. "Sony Computer Entertainment would like to extend its sincere thanks to those who have played on the servers over the past several years."

Eye of Judgment was first released in October 2007. It was one of the first titles to make use of the PlayStation Eye camera for PlayStation 3.

Gamers Still Prefer Physical Discs

Posted by DirtyRat - on Wednesday, July 07 @ 23:17:14 CDT
News
New study shows strong interest in game discs due to used sales.

The majority of gamers still prefer to purchase their games on physical discs, according to a new study done by UK media research firm Ipsos MORI.

The study conducted in May, which surveyed over 1000 people between the ages of 15 to 55 (of which 577 were owners of next gen consoles - Wii, PS3, Xbox 360), showed that 64% still prefer to purchase games on physical discs. 25% say they prefer digital downloads while 11% said they had no preference. Other forms of media, newspapers, films, and music, showed higher interest in digital preference.

Ian Bramley, Senior Director at Ipsos MORI, told IGN the used game market is likely the cause of gamers choosing discs over downloads.

"The preference for physical discs amongst next gen gamers, despite the high levels of interest for digital models, reflects the value gamers derive from the second-hand resale market which likely contributes to holding up the preference for physical - this is unlike the music and film markets," Bramley said.

"Also the physical disc has a long and well established history in the games market which is deep mindset to change, particularly when building a physical collection and in-store browsing are important to gamers, as are fears of losing digital versions."

Cross-game chat will not be available at PlayStation Plus launch

Posted by DirtyRat - on Monday, June 28 @ 22:21:53 CDT
News
I know we've told you cross-game chat will be included in the PlayStation Plus program, but our source for the post, Joystiq, has been contacted by Sony and they have updated their post accordingly. Just to be absolutely clear - Sony will not be including cross-game voice chat in PlayStation Plus at launch.

As clarified by Joystiq on their updated post:

A Sony representative reached out to us, saying "Cross-game voice chat was not announced as part of PlayStation Plus." The feature was not officially announced at E3, however sources familiar with the situation say that this incentive will be announced at a later date. "The new offering provides subscribers features such as frequent discounts on PlayStation Store content, free and exclusive access to select games, full game trials, early invitations to select betas of popular games, and new functionality such as content downloads and updates which will automatically be "pushed" to the PS3 system."

Furthermore, a post in the European PlayStation Blog about PlayStation Plus details earlier today also reiterated that cross-game voice chat is not currently included in the offerings.

Sony, however, didn't give out a flat out no, and judging by the careful wording of their statements, they might still have plans of adding cross-game voice chat in the future. For now, don't be making hasty subscriptions without double checking.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is a series on its own, not a spin-off

Posted by DirtyRat - on Monday, June 28 @ 21:58:44 CDT
Game News
Speaking of series, we have another title that just could be the beginning of a new one. Earlier, we had Square Enix tell us that they're looking at making The 3rd Birthday into a series. Now, we have Kojima Productions revealing that they intend to do the same for Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

In the podcast for Enterbrain, game producer Shigenobu Matsuyama cleared off the rumors that Rising is a Metal Gear Solid spin off.

"MGS Rising is not a side story. We're aiming for two Metal Gear Solids, making a series out of another standard."

It should be exciting to see what they'll come up with this one. Metal Gear Solid: Rising is slated to come out on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Dead Rising 2 delayed

Posted by DirtyRat - on Monday, June 28 @ 21:55:09 CDT
Game News
The dead will indeed be rising, but it's just going to be delayed by a month. Capcom just announced that Dead Rising 2 will be pushed back a month from its original due dates.

Originally, the game was slated for a September 3 European release, but now, it's been given an October 1 launch. Meanwhile, US gamers will have to wait till September 28 after it's been moved from August 31.

No reason was given as to what caused this change in schedule, but at least we know when it's arriving instead. Dead Rising 2 is slated for a PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 release.

Expect More PS2 HD Collections

Posted by DirtyRat - on Monday, June 28 @ 21:49:31 CDT
Game News
Sony will continue to release HD Collections of PlayStation 2 titles on PlayStation 3.

In an interview with IGN during E3, Shuhei Yoshida, president of SCE's Worldwide Studios, confirmed the company will release more Blu-ray collections of PS2 games in the future.

"Santa Monica Studios had the brilliant idea to upgrade and improve God of War for PS3 with the God of War Collection that we released last year," Yoshida said. "There were a lot of positive reactions from consumers in doing that, and now we get a lot of suggestions for types of packs they'd like to see."

"So we are looking to continue to do these HD conversions," he added.

At E3, Sony announced The Sly Collection, which includes all three Sly Cooper PlayStation 2 titles in high resolution and has 3D, Move, and trophy support. The title is scheduled for release this November.

When asked about the possibility of releasing PS2 titles through PlayStation Network, Yoshida said Sony is looking at different methods but wouldn't confirm anything.

"We are looking into ways how we can deliver the PS2 library to PS3 consumers, but were are not ready to announce anything yet."
